After a collision, getting a damaged vehicle moved requires clear information and appropriate equipment. Share the scene location, vehicle condition, and any responder instructions so dispatch can assess the next step.
Start with the scene and vehicle condition
If anyone is injured or in immediate danger, call 911 first. Once it is safe to arrange vehicle service, tell dispatch the exact location, vehicle make and model, visible damage, and whether the car is still in a traffic lane. Follow instructions from emergency responders at the scene.
Recovery and towing are different steps
A vehicle in a ditch, with locked wheels, or in an obstructed position may need recovery work before it can be loaded. Describe those conditions when you call. Once the vehicle is recovered, towing can take it to your preferred facility. Mention damaged wheels or steering and any other condition that could affect loading.
Confirm the destination and scene instructions
Have your preferred repair facility or other authorized destination ready. If an insurer, property owner, or responding officer is involved, share their instructions. Confirm coverage, payment arrangements, scene access, and the destination with the relevant parties.
LOCAL PICKUP GUIDANCE

On I-5 near Seattle or Shoreline, identify the direction, nearest exit, and whether the vehicle is in a traffic lane. For Edmonds terminal approaches, relay staff instructions. Around Lynnwood’s I-5/I-405 junction, name the freeway and connecting ramp. Responders’ access instructions take priority at an active scene.
